The McGill University Archives has launced a new website to incorporate the McGill Remembers project started in April 2005. The new website features the story of Bill Allison and MF-509.

Remembrance Day 2006 and MF-509

On both sides of the Atlantic the crew of MF-509 were remembered on November 11th. At the crash site in Wales a ceremony was held at 11am. In Canada the crew's story was displayed by McGill University (see below) and the story was featured in a talk given by Chris Milligan and Wes Cross to the Quebec Family History Society in Lachine on the same day. The photo shows part of the ceremony at Carreg Goch and was suppied by Arvel Michael.

McGill University Honours MF-509

As part of the 2006 Remembrance activities on the campus of McGill University, a display honouring the memories will be available to the public documenting the story of MF-509. A display window on one of Montreal's main streets will provide images and material for approximately one month. The location is 1430 Peel Street in Montreal.

MF-509 Dusablon Family Contacted

In October Caroline Davies received an email from the Dusablon family who live in Montreal. Wes Cross visited with the sister of Gerald Dusablon, Helene Duval and provided her with all of the background information. Helene has some photos of her brother, who was the tail gunner in MF-509, and those will available here soon. Helene expressed her appreciation to all of the paeople who have gathered the information and images relating to MF-509.

Climb to MF-509 Completed

The climb to the MF-509 Memorial took place on May 6, 2006 in good weather conditions, and excellent company. The hike culminated in a discussion of the crew lost in November 1944 at that spot, and the leaving of articles on behalf of the Villeneuve and Allison families. Prayers were read, and many photos were taken. Upon returning to the base of the valley, a dinner was held at the Abercrave Inn in Abercraf.

Climb to MF-509 Memorial

The long planned climb to the MF-509 Memorial is planned for Saturday May 6th, weather permitting. The day will be ended with a dinner to honour the airew lost on Carreg Goch on November 20th, 1944.

Chris Milligan has developed a web page which displays additional documents about Bill Allison provided by his sister Phyllis. Included are new photos, letters and other documents.

We have just received a photo of Jules Villeneuve, who was the navigator on MF-509. The aircrew photo (see below) shows the original navigator Gaston Caron who was replaced by Jules not long before the fatal crash. This photo was provided by Eric Schofield, a nephew of Jules Villeneuve.
