Friends of MF509

MF509, a Wellington MK10 took off on Nov.20th 1944 for a training exercise. The plane experienced engine troubles and as they descended over the mountains of the Brecon Beacons their aircraft flew into the south west slope of Carreg Goch. Six RCAF crewmembers perished. A memorial was erected by the Welsh people and has since assumed a place of honour within the Brecon Beacons.

Remembrance 2016 at Carreg Goch

2016 Remembrance Ceremony

An annual Remembrance ceremony is held at the MF509 site every year. An impressive number of people hike to the site, in all weather conditions, and this year's ceremony was attended by Dana, a great-niece of crew member Bill Allison.

Hi Aranwes
Do you own the photo of the 2016 Remembrance? I'm doing a presentation to my camera club and if possible would like permission to use it if you have a larger file size. I am in the photo (the guy in the blue anorak to the right of the Canadian flag). Sadly because of an SD card error lost my images for that day. Regards, Brian
